The FDA approved Electro-Acuscope & Myopulse Therapy System benefits horses participating in every area of competition and supports them during every stage of life.

Electro Acuscope and Myopulse Therapy System

The Electro Acuscope and Myopulse are microcurrent instruments with an FDA approval for treating neuromuscular & musculoskeletal conditions, pain management, and providing an accelerated recovery time of a minimum of 50%.  Horses and dogs with acute as well as chronic conditions have benefited from this non-invasive, pain free modality for over twenty-five years. The Acuscope works by normalizing the level of current in nerve cells with indirect access to soft tissue. The Myopulse normalizes the electromagnetic field that surrounds soft and connective tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and periosteum). The instruments are specifically calibrated to read animal tissue and, when used together, comprise a complete system. More>

Commonly Treated Conditions

The Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse are FDA approved instruments originally created for use on humans. These microcurrent instruments have been used in physical therapy clinics, doctors’ offices, hospitals, and by professional athletes since 1976. For more than two decades, it has been used extensively in the treatment of both large and small animals. The following are some of the most common conditions which have been treated successfully with the Acuscope/Myopulse Therapy System.

abscessed feet

arthritic conditions

back injuries

body soreness

bowed tendons

capped hocks

check ligaments

curbed hocks

edema

epilepsy

green osselets

hyperactivity

joint inflammation

lick granuloma

mouth ailments

muscle spasms

nerve damage

old age syndrome (vitality)

osteochrondritis

pinched nerves

pulled/strained ligaments

pulled/strained muscles

rhinitis-allergic

ring bone

splints

stifle problems

surgical scars

traumatic injury

whirlbone

wounds

Remarkable results have also been obtained in the treatment of other conditions thought to be life threatening or crippling. For example:

avascular necrosis

disc disease (IDD)

FELV (long term symptomatic relief)

founder

hip dysplasia

laminitis

navicular syndrome

nerve paralysis

spinal damage

spondylolisthesis

wobblers syndrome

Acuscope/Myopulse Therapy complements traditional veterinary procedures to ensure a quicker recovery for the animal but does not replace proper veterinary care.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The response curve is very consistent for most cases.  According to the manufacturer's protocols, all patients require three consecutive treatments within a 72 hour period. After the initial series is complete, the patients will require a series of follow up treatments which vary depending on the severity of the condition and the patient's response to the treatments.  In general, the majority of patients reach results within the first 3-4 weeks utilizing this therapy system. As one component of the FDA approval for the Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse therapy system is for pain management, they may remain in a pain free state for a significant amount of time.  Literature from the manufacturer states that 25% of the patient population will receive relief or resolution within the first 1-6 treatments, 50% percent within 6-12 treatments, and the remaining 25% will receive the results in 12-24 treatments.

The more frequently treatments are provided, the sooner the tissue being treated will achieve capacitance. The cumulative effect of multiple treatments is the only way to achieve long term results, thus a series of treatments spread out over days, weeks or months is appropriate until the goal has been reached. After that, a weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly maintenance program can be initiated to keep cellular capacitance at optimum level. Horses and dogs in regular maintenance typically require shorter treatment sessions and can maintain those benefits for a longer period between treatments.

The Importance of Correct Instrument Calibration & Training

In order to treat patients properly and optimize results, the calibration is a very important factor, something that should be considered when choosing a certified animal Acuscope therapist to work on your animal.  There are only two calibrations of these instruments available: the human calibrated instruments and the animal calibrated instruments. My animal calibrated instruments have been specifically designed to interface with animal anatomy as well well as their unique metabolism and physiology. The biofeedback system being used by the human-calibrated instruments is neither correct nor precise when interacting with animal tissue. The correct calibration is necessary in order to obtain faster, superior results with this therapy system.

Animal Therapy Systems is the exclusive distributor of the animal calibrated Electro-Acuscope/Myopulse therapy system and is also the pioneer and founder of the original Equine and Canine Acuscope Training and Certification program. This program is the most established, complete, and extensive veterinarian approved animal Acuscope educational program being offered today.
